Dragon's Rest


Type Sculpture

     Circular outline of dragon within raised grass earthworks. Stones as spine and telegraph poles as wing. Head made from specialised fine, hard form of cement designed for casting. A mini-excavator was used to form the earthworks.
     The work was commissioned by Arts Factory, Ferndale as part of a community regeneration project. Ben Clegg was the environmental arts project leader and worked closely with the local community. Arts Factory is based in Trehondda Chapel in Ferndale and was set up as an independent project in 1990 and is based in Trehondda Chapel. This work was given to the Rugby Club after their support in the fight to save the Chapel from demolition.
