Bay Panels

Type Panel , Sculpture

Series of twelve relief terracotta panels set in base of street lamps. From 'The Bay and other Artwalks': 'The panels each focus on a different aspect of Welsh culture - from the coal, steel and shipping industries to rugby, agriculture and even the familiar terraced houses of the valleys.'
The panels were originally commissioned by Cardiff Bay Development Corporation for the National Garden Festival at Ebbw Vale in 1992. They were relocated at Cardiff Bay at the close of the Festival by Grosvenor Waterside in 1993. Cardiff Bay Arts Trust was established in 1990 as part of a policy on public art set out by Cardiff Bay Development Corporation. Over the first decade CBAT has worked with public institutions, private corporations and with the local community to enrich the experience for those who visit, live and work in the area. Following the wind up of CBDC, Cardiff Bay Arts Trust became CBAT The Arts & Regeneration Agency and continues to operate UK wide and internationally.
