Christ in Glory

Type Medallion

Robed figure of Christ with halo, seated on a rainbow? with his feet resting on clouds. The figure is in a roundel like a shallow dish set in the brick of the gable end facing the street. His left hand is resting on a closed book, the Bible?, and his right is raised in blessing. The date, 1964, is carved on either side of the figure. It is made of stone or cement. The roundel has a circle of bricks, end on, round it.
Christ Church was built in 1912 and enlarged in 1936. Eagle House, High Street, was bought in 1910 as the site for a new Roman Catholic church. The house became Christ Church Priory and the new church built next to it. The new priory wing was added on the right of the house in 1964. This has the roundel on its gable end, facing the street.

On either side of the figure: 19 [figure] 64
