National Recording Project

Detail from: Memorial to 158 Squadron by Peter W. Naylor, 2009

Three tiers of octagon steps. A square socket stone with a bevel to the top, no corner stops (this may be a modern replacement as it bears the name 'COUNSEL'). The shaft is square to octagon, with pyramid corners. The capital is of Perpendicular design and is probably original. The head, a Latin Cross, is a later restoration.
