Call for entries for Open Exhibition
The London Group invites submissions for the 84th Open exhibition, that will take place in two parts on 20-29 November and 3-4 December 2019 at The Cello Factory. Both parts of the exhibition will include works by London Group members and works by non-members selected from open submission. Selected exhibitors will show a maximum of one work. Approximately 120 works will be shown in total with a minimum of 60 works by non-members – at least half of the exhibitors will be non-members.
Works for the exhibition will be selected by a panel of artists from The London Group Selection Committee, comprising 17 current members.
Submissions of work are invited from visual artists working in any medium including, painting, sculpture, drawing, print, photography, mixed media, installation, video, sound, digital and performance.
Set up in 1913 by thirty two artists including Walter Sickert, Jacob Epstein, Wyndham Lewis, David Bomberg, and Henri Gaudier Brzeska, with the aim of creating a powerful artist-run group to act as a counter-balance to institutions such as the Royal Academy, The London Group created a unique structure for an organisation, that has gone on to successfully nurture the careers of many of Britain’s best-known artists.
The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Friday 30 August 2019.
