Summary

     Typanum relief shows a view of Newark Castle from the Trent with warehouses in the background. Above the ground floor windows at each end is a classical frieze. On the left is a sculpted lion's head and on the right a young girl. Both in laurel leaf roundels flanked by swags in limestone.
