Type Sculpture

     Large slate megalith set in concrete with abstract aluminium eagle on top
     Commissioned by Gwynedd County Council to commemorate 700th anniversary of Llywelyn's death in 1282. Financial support of Welsh Arts Council who also organised an open competition for all artists in Wales. Slate megalith presented by Penrhyn Quarries. (NB: In Strachan's book, the location for this work is given as Cardiff)
     Llywelyn ap Gruffydd, the last independent Prince of Wales, was killed in 1282. The county of Gwynedd approximates to the ancient Princedom.
