Jubilee Fountain

Summary

Type Fountain

     Cadw report: 'Stone, ashlar. Recessed Norman style arched alcove, matching doorways at church, with rounded columns and dog tooth decoration. Above drinking trough embossed Royal insignia 'VR' and crown.' Also includes dates 1837 1897 on either side of crown.
     Erected to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. A plaque on the fountain notes that it was renovated by the Rotary Club of Monmouth to commemorate the silver jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in June 1977

Inscription incised in stone and painted black: ERECTED BY SUBSCRIPTION / TO COMMEMORATE / THE DIAMOND JUBILEE OF / QUEEN VICTORIA.
