Summary

Type Fountain

     Cadw description: 'Coped kneelered gable of stugged masonry, arched outlet at base. Painted ironwork in shape of sinuous cartouche with cherub overthrow, foliage trails and figures of Christ and the Woman of Samaria with text.' Fountain has been recently renovated and repainted, mainly green with gold decoration. Figures of a cherub, Christ and Woman of Samaria draped with coloured cloth. Fountain niche is painted black.
          The fountain was erected to commemorate the marriage of the Prince of Wales in March 1863.

Inscriptions

Raised letters above central niche: JESUS SAID UNTO HER, / WHOSOEVER DRINKETH OF THIS WATER / SHALL THIRST AGAIN; / BUT WHOSOEVER DRINKETH OF THE WATER / THAT I SHALL GIVE HIM, / SHALL NEVER THIRST. / JOHN.IV.13.14 Raised letters under central niche: TO COMMEMORATE THE MARRIAGE / OF THE / PRINCE OF WALES / MARCH 10TH / 1863
