The Bard (Statue), Mansion House

Type Statue

The subject is taken from Thomas Gray's poem The Bard. In 1856, the Committee visited Theed's studio, and found the statue in a satisfactory state. However, they recommended that the sculptor "alter the pedestal so as to represent the Bard as standing on a natural rock". Theed agreed to make the change.
