National Recording Project

Detail from: Memorial to 158 Squadron by Peter W. Naylor, 2009

Type Sculpture

A group of 3 hollow cylinders, standing at various angles off vertical, each one fixed to the concreted-over area beneath them with 4 bolts. Each has a full-length opening of c.30 cm width on its S.-facing aspect. Consequently, approached from the N., the cylinders appear solid. Each is painted rose-pink on the exterior. As the viewer moves around the group, however, the openings are revealed showing, in an anti-clockwise direction, interiors painted yellow, green, and blue, repectively.
