Bombed School Memorial

Summary

Type Sculpture , War Memorial

     Winged angel surmounting a white stone column, tapering upwards from a square base. The central part of the column is decorated with marble columns or pillars.
     'The main approach [to the recreation ground] from East India Dock Road now contains a memorial, signed by the local undertaker A. R. Adams, to the 18 children killed by a bomb dropped on Upper North Street School in 1917. It has an angel on a pedestal of white Sicilian marble with columns of Labrador granite'.(1)
