Sign For Nature Centre

Type Other

Crafted from wrought iron, the sign incorporates many plants, animals, birds, and insects in its borders around vignettes which represent the months of the year. Each month is represented by specific breeds of plants and animals, appropriate to the time of year. For example, March is represented by mallard ducks, marsh marigolds and daffodils, while August has thistles, goldfinches and fritillary butterflies. (1)
Designed by Sheila Carter and constructed by her husband Ron and their sons at Trapp Forge near Burnley.
