Alderman Sir Albert Bradbeer (1890-1963)
The bust remained in Bloye's studio until his death in 1975 along with the plaster model. Douglas Hickman donated the bronze bust to the Council to be displayed in the Council House.
Sir Albert Bradbeer (1890-1963) was Lord Mayor of Birmingham 1946-47 and served on various Housing, Hospital and Theatre administration and Management Committees. He was the City Council representative to the Civic Society, of which Bloye was a member, and also to the Foyle Trust, receiving the Civic Society's gold medal in 1957. (1) Yet it was probably as chairman of the Birmingham and District Theatre Guild that this bust was commissioned.
