Detail from: Memorial to 158 Squadron by Peter W. Naylor, 2009

Wilfred Byng Kenrick

Type Statue

The bust is a rather stiff depiction of the elderly man in contemporary dress staring straight ahead.
The bust was commissioned anonymously and the cost of casting was borne by the John Feeney Charitable Trust. (2) The school now renamed the 'Central Secondary School', was originally named the 'Byng Kenrick Grammar School For Girls' in Kenricks's honour.
Kenrick was one of the most outstanding figures in education in Birmingham. He was chair of the Education Committee (1922-28, 1931-43), Governor and Deputy Pro-Chancellor of Birmingham University (1939-57) and Governor of King Edward School from 1916 until his death.(1)
