Abstract Panels

Summary

Type Mural

A concrete revetment constructed by large moulded concrete panels. Most of these are of a small number of repeated designs but a few are unique panels with intricate abstracted designs on them. This is a structural retaining wall incorporating an artificial waterfall.
Hoo Road forms part of the Kidderminster Ring road. The road and wall (rather than the art work) was officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony on 17 August 1973 by Keith Speed, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department of the Environment. The total cost of the road was £1, 699,000 although there is no information available as to how much was actually spent on the sculptural components.
