Priory Monks mosaic

Summary

Type Panel

There are four quatrefoil roundels within a circular pebbled area. Within each, picures depicting the lives of the monks living in the original Priory are etched onto slate. Of the four designs, two show monks reading, one shows a monk praying in front of the altar and the fourth shows a monk chopping down trees. Their style recalls the pictures in the margins of medieval manuscripts.
The mosaics were funded by the Leisure Services Department at Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council on a percent for art basis as part of a re-landscaping scheme.
